Next Recruitment Cycle: Fall 2018
General Information
"Explore Finance" is a program designed for first and second year students who are interested in learning more about careers in finance, who are interested in learning about investing in the stock market, and/or who generally want to supplement their UO education with skills outside of their major. This program allows students to be involved in the UOIG experience without the commitment of completing a valuation report each term. Ideal candidates want to learn about finance and/or careers in the finance industry in an effort to explore how finance skills can help them attain their future goals. Freshman and Sophomore students from all majors and backgrounds are invited to apply.
Program benefits include:
- Learn about careers in finance and get guidance to begin career searching and networking
- Professional development
- Explore fundamental equity valuation and portfolio management
- Learn what drives value in a company
- Participate in weekly UOIG meetings
- Participate in meetings with Management and/or other analysts on topics with input from program participants
Students accepted into the inaugural class in Winter 2018 will be expected to dedicate the remainder of Winter Term and Spring Term to the program. This includes attending weekly meetings from 8-10am each Friday. Students should also expect to spend at least one hour each week with a mentor and/or in a discussion-style lesson.
Participation in this group does not guarantee or indicate future membership into the UOIG.
